However, revisiting Breaking the Waves proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that his earlier films (particularly those that Lars von Trier is probably one of the most polarizing filmmakers out there, so I was surprised to see the almost unanimous acclaim for Breaking the Waves here on Letterboxd.
