Seven gunmen from a variety of backgrounds are brought together by a vengeful young widow to protect her town from the private army of a destructive industrialist. A bandit terrorizes a small Mexican farming village each year. Several of the village elders send three of the farmers into the United States to search for.

Elmer Bernstein was a young film composer who nevertheless had one of Hollywood's greatest epics on his credits: Cecil B. Yul Brynner plays Chris, a mercenary hired to protect a Mexican farming village from its annual invasion by bandit Calvera (Eli Wallach). The Magnificent Seven Ride, the final sequel, has Chris, now married and a US Marshal, be recruited by an old friend of his turned Bounty Hunter to form a new Band of Seven to defeat the bandit lord De Toro.
